Family & Community Engagement Liaison

Type: Full-Time

The Community Partnership of Lancaster County is seeking a full time Family and Engagement Liaison to provide specific support to families in the Head Start program and network with community organizations to enhance the lives of those families. CAP offers competitive compensation and benefit packages.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Completes applications as applicable and gathers information for selection of children to enroll in Head Start program
  • Informs ERSEA manager of openings and works collaboratively to fill vacancies
  • Schedules and completes 45 day screenings during summer events
  • Follows health procedures to ensure compliance. Works with teacher to insure timely enrollment
  • Completes the strength matrix and uses it to help families set goals and establish a plan to attain them
  • Supports families in registration for kindergarten as well as encouraging participation in all kindergarten transition activities offered by the school district
  • Collaborate with education staff to deliver research-based family engagement practices that reflect the Head Start Performance Standards and PFCE Framework
  • Collaborate with community organizations to deepen partnerships for the benefit of families, children and staff. Serve as a bridge of communication between schools and families
  • Observe CAP ‘s values in working with children, families, staff, and community partners
  • Follows all Community Action Partnership/Head Start policies, procedures and systems
  • Works with teachers to inform families of scheduled health screenings and ensure child’s attendance on screening day
  • Collaborates with early learning coordinators and teachers to review family needs and prioritize caseloads

Education, Experience & Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or AA in Social Work or related degree; or 3 years’ experience working with families with young children
  • Within 18 months of hire, at a minimum; a credential or certification in social work, human services, family services, counselling or related field
  • Must have good managerial skills, effective communication skills, and ability to effectively address a group of stakeholders from different backgrounds
  • Ability to use data base software to enter family and program data. Ability to use Microsoft Office programs effectively. Ability to speak, read, and write fluently in English
  • Current driver’s license and vehicle available to travel to Head Start sites and professional development
  • Ability to work flexible hours and attend night out-of-town meetings as necessary
  • Respect and sensitivity towards cultural differences
  • PA Act 33 and 34 certifiable, FBI clearances
  • If fluent in more than one language, interpret and translate as needed
  • Ability to negotiate steps and access the home environments of Head Start families
