WIC Nutritionist

Community Action Partnership (CAP) is seeking a dedicated full-time WIC Nutritionist, responsible for assessing, identifying and managing the nutritional needs of woman, infants and children, including prescribing and tailoring supplemental food packages and providing nutrition counseling to person of various and economic groups. Qualifications
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Conduct certification and re-certification interviews with WIC applicants in a timely manner by following a schedule of appointments
- Determine program eligibility through income verification, hematological testing, anthropometric measurements, dietary assessment, and nutrition risk assessment
- Maintain proficiency in hematological procedures and pass proficiency test. Adhere strictly to standard precautions
- Develop and manage individualized care plans that address clients’ nutritional needs
- Address special needs of high-risk participants using a high-risk care plan
- Prescribe and tailor formula and food packages based on clients’ nutritional needs and issue EBT cards
- Promote breastfeeding to all participants and maintain a breastfeeding-friendly environment in all clinics
- Maintain all information in MIS and participants charts according to policy
- Issue Farmers Market checks to eligible customers. Assist with all monitoring reviews
- Act as liaison between WIC and health professionals in the community
Skills and Experience
Education, Experience & Requirement
- Bachelor’s Degree in nutrition, dietetics, or home economics (with emphasis in nutrition or dietetics) required
- WIC experience required. Dependable, with excellent attendance and work ethic
- Superior professionalism, customer service, interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to analyze a situation and use critical thinking skills to develop appropriate action
- Able to develop educational material in an understandable format ad present in groups
- Commitment to CAP’s mission and core values as well as the priorities of WIC
- Must be trustworthy and discrete with all information. Strong organizational skills
- Ability to work with and relate to various social, economic and ethnic groups
- Access to a vehicle and ability to travel with little advance notice
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Flexibility and ability to multi-task
