Celebrating WIC 50

50 YEARS OF WIC

This year, Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) has reached a milestone of 50 years of providing nutrition and health care support to families living with low income, and CAP is hosting a *free* open enrollment event to celebrate!

Join us Friday, September 20, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., in Nature’s Classroom at CAP, 601 South Queen Street, Lancaster, PA, where you’ll be able to learn about available WIC resources and enroll in WIC while you’re there.

We’ll have family-friendly fun, with a coffee cart, WIC food demonstrations and samplings, a DJ, and games and activities for kids! You’ll be able to visit with community partners to learn about their resources, and new and returning WIC enrollees will receive a special gift that day.

We hope to see you there!

Please note, if you are a person with a disability, desire to attend the 50th Anniversary WIC Enrollment Event, and require an auxiliary aid, service, or other accommodation to participate, please contact Mary Quiles Cespedes, Lancaster ADA Coordinator: 717-299-8079.

ABOUT WIC

Since 1974, WIC has been providing supplemental food, health care and community resource referrals, and nutrition education to pregnant, breastfeeding, and non-breastfeeding postpartum women living with low income who have children under the age of five who are nutritionally vulnerable.

As we celebrate 50 years of WIC nationally, we are proud to continue the good work of WIC throughout Lancaster County as a program of CAP, as we have since 1978.

Well-balanced nutrition is vital for the health and well-being of children, especially in their early stages of development, and our dedicated team of WIC care professionals walks alongside families in ensuring they have equitable access to resources that support them in setting a healthy foundation for their journey to thriving.
