Healthy Foods

WIC food benefits give participants access to healthy foods from WIC authorized stores and local farmers’ markets.

Healthy Foods

WIC ‘s new convenient eWIC card gives participants access to healthy foods such as whole grains, dairy, produce, fruits and vegetables, and lean protein from WIC authorized stores. A nutritionist at the WIC office determines each family’s supplemental food package. The eWIC card will be loaded with the foods for each participant for up to 3 months maximum.  Participants can shop throughout the month getting what they need as they need it. At the next WIC appointment, benefits are reloaded again for quick easy access to healthy foods each month.

Farmer’s Market Nutrition Program

The Farmer’s Market Nutrition Program (FMNP) provides WIC participants with access to fresh fruits and vegetables from local markets. WIC staff issue vouchers from June through September when local fresh produce is readily available through preapproved farmers’ markets. Vouchers can be used at local markets until the end of November each year. Take your kids along to the market and have them help pick out their favorite fruits and vegetables. It’s a great way to get your children excited about healthy eating!
